Description
The Dwarf Pink Marguerite Daisy features beautiful white daisy petals with dusty pink overtones which varies in strength and depth of colour. The base of each petal has a faint golden green and surround the warm golden orange central disc from early summer to early fall, which are most effective when planted in groupings. Petite Pink is a dwarf subshrub to 30 cm (12 inches), forming a dome of divided tiny deeply cut ferny leaves which remain grayish green in colour throughout the season. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.
The Marguerite Daisy is an herbaceous annual bedding plant with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage. This annual bedding plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep. Trim off the flower heads after they fade and die to encourage more blooms late into the season. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard. It has no significant negative characteristics. This daisy is recommended for the following landscape applications; General Garden Use, Mass Planting, Container Planting, Border Edging.
Marguerite Daisies will grow to be about 18 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 18 inches. This fast-growing annual will normally live for one full growing season, needing replacement the following year. This annual bedding plant should only be grown in full sunlight. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This plant can be propagated by cuttings. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America.
Marguerite daisy flowers are a small shrub-like perennial in the family Asteraceae, which are native to the Canary Islands. This little herbaceous perennial is a nice addition to flower beds, borders or as a container specimen. Marguerite daisy flowers, whose Latin name is Argyranthemum frutescens, are terrific butterfly and other pollinator attractors. Available in a variety of hues from white or yellow to pink or purple depending on the species, these prolific single- or double-flowered daisy-like flowers are similar in appearance to the Shasta daisy. The various species and subspecies result from hybridization, and thus, may be imports from several spots around the globe. Two examples of this are the blue marguerite daisy, which hails from South Africa, and the white harvest snow daisy, which was brought from Germany.
Argyranthemum (marguerite, marguerite daisy, summer daisy, cobbity daisy, paris daisy, dill daisy, Federation Daisy) is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Asteraceae. Members of this genus are sometimes also placed in the genus Chrysanthemum. The genus is endemic to Macaronesia, occurring only on the Canary Islands, the Savage Islands, and Madeira. Argyranthemum frutescens is recorded as a food plant of the leaf-mining larva of the moth Bucculatrix chrysanthemella.
The following cultivars have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit:- 'Cornish Gold', 'Donington Hero', 'Chelsea Girl', 'Jamaica Primrose', 'Levada Cream', A. maderense, 'Mary Cheek', 'Petite Pink', 'Qinta White', 'Snow Storm', 'Vancouver', 'Whiteknights'.
