A green metallic bee visits the Snapdragon.
It's a brand-new color palette for merry Snaps, not to mention an exciting double-flowered form and award-winning garden performance. The Twinny series offers large "butterfly" (double) azalea flowered blooms that jostle one another for space on compact dwarf plants. Standing tough despite harsh spring or fall weather and hot or wet conditions, this bedding plant is just right for 4-5 in/10-12 cm pots and large containers as well as the sunny bed.
The Twinny series is the first Snap to offer double-flowered blooms on a dwarf habit, and one color blend -- Peach -- has already won an AAS award for its superb growth and look. So variable is the blend of shades on these flowers that each looks handpainted. And you'll be able to enjoy them up close, because the stems are ideal for cutting, and you get so many blooms you'll have plenty for the garden, too. In addition to the mix, each color is available separately: Violet, Crimson, Yellow Shades, Bronze Shades, Rose, Appleblossom, White, and AAS-winning Peach.
Just 12 inches high and up to 8 inches wide, Twinny is nicely compact, and it makes the most of its smaller space. The flowers continue over a long season, and the plant is equally suited for spring or fall, being quite weather-resistant. This is the Snap to grow in that "risky" spot where others may have failed. Given sunshine and well-drained soil, it's prepared to grow vigorously and flower freely.
Snapdragon' is a plant in the Antirrhinum genus with a scientific name of Antirrhinum majus. The botanical name epithet for Snapdragon (majus) means 'great'. The common name “snapdragon”, originates from the flowers reaction to having their throats squeezed, which causes the “mouth” of the flower to snap open. Snapdragon grows as an annual/perennial and is a flower. Being an annual / perennial plant, it tends to grow either as a single season plant, or a plant that can stay in your garden for many years. Snapdragon is known for its erect habit and growing to a height of approximately 45.0 cm (1.46 feet). This plant tends to bloom in mid summer. Popular varieties of Snapdragon with home gardeners are Dwarf Magic Carpet, Night and Day, First Ladies, Mixed Colors, Tall maximum and Tall Deluxe, Mixed Colors. Snapdragon is normally quite a low maintenance plant and is normally very easy to grow - great for beginner gardeners!
