Description
This rather special and distinctive cosmos, Cosmea bipinnatus, has folded petals. They splay out from a yellow button centre forming a 2-3 inch daisy-like bloom. It has finely cut lacy ferny foliage adding airy grace and longlasting colour to any sunny spot. It is ideal for backgrounds, borders and cutting. It's height is 36 to 60 inches.
Cosmos is one of the best nectar plants for attracting birds, bees and butterflies to the garden and the flowers are perfect for pressing.
Cosmos bipinnatus, commonly called the garden cosmos or Mexican aster, is a medium-sized flowering herbaceous plant native to Mexico. The species and its varieties and cultivars are popular as an ornamental plant in temperate climate gardens. It can also be found in natural areas in much of North America, where it is a garden escape (introduced species) and in some habitats becoming a weed.
