Cosmidium burridgeanum. If you like Chocolate cosmos, you'll love Phillipine! Dwarf and uniform plants with 3cm (1¼") wide bicolor flowers that are henna or chocolate brown tinged with burgundy purple at the centre, surrounded by bright golden orange, and scented with cocoa. This splendid annual only grows to 40cm (16") tall, is well branched and extremely uniform so it works well in containers, flower beds, and rock gardens. Guaranteed to attract pollinating insects to the garden. Direct sow on the surface of the soil any time after last frost. It will bloom in about twelve weeks.
It blooms from mid summer until frost with daisy-like flowers. Cosmidium has been grown in English gardens since the nineteenth century, where it was once thought to be a hybrid. It was later discovered to be a Texas wildflower. Cosmidium 'Philippine' is similar to Cosmidium 'Brunette', but the plants are more compact. Also known as Burridge's Greenthread and Thelesperma burridgeanum.
