This striking Wild Flanders Poppy, a wildflower in Flanders and many other locations around the world, is a strong glowing orange. It's seed pod is a light yellow green with fuzzy stripes that are green from the centre of the pod that transition and widen to a wine red or burgundy colour at the outside. The filaments are red or burgundy topped with black stamen that burst forth with a multitude of green pollen granules. At the base of the petals is often a glowing purple-fuchsia pink and not the common black spot which forms a cross which is tipped and contrasted in pure white.
Flanders Poppies are seen sprinkling cornfields with its bright scarlet red flowers. Ideal for creating a bright splash of colour in a sunny corner where little else will grow, or in the wild garden where it self seeds with ease. Flowers early summer. Height: 18-24 inches.
