Description
This piece has been featured in the FAA, "Beautiful Flowers Group".
Each Pink Popsocks Cosmos plant produces remarkable single, semi-double, and anemone shaped flowers all season. This particular one is an anemone with a central cap of pink tubes which looks very similar to the Powder-Puff or Anemone Dahlia. The single row of bright pink pleated and scalloped petals produces a darker cherise pink halo around the centre cap. A knee high variety, it grows to 24-28 inches tall.
Cosmos bipinnatus, commonly called the garden cosmos or Mexican aster, is a medium-sized flowering herbaceous plant native to Mexico. The species and its varieties and cultivars are popular as an ornamental plant in temperate climate gardens. It can also be found in natural areas in much of North America, where it is a garden escape (introduced species) and in some habitats becoming a weed.
Cosmos is one of the best nectar plants for attracting birds, bees and butterflies to the garden and the flowers are perfect for pressing.
