Description
This Pop Art colour combination contains the image in it's original colours and the corresponding three alternate Pop Art colours in the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) colour wheel. It is interesting to note that no matter which Pop Art colour combination you are looking at, each of the Daisy's central discs matches the colouring of the petals of the Daisy in an adjacent quarter or vice versa. Be sure to visit my "Various Collages" Gallery to see the other colours and formats of this image.
This is a beautiful bi-colour daisy of a strong purple, almost hot pink or fuchsia colouring. Each petal sports a broad white tip which nearly outlines the whole petal. These distinctive petals surround the typical yellow central disk. The Firmenish purple bicolor daisy is often used in flower bouquets.
It's name originates from the Anglo Saxon word meaning "day's eye" because it opens in the morning.
The middle of the flower is known as the central disk, which contains florets. The petals are called rays or ray florets and the leaves can be smooth or hairy, depending on the variety.
Some descriptive names for the daisy are moon flower, moon pennies, Mary's flower of God, Mary's Star, priest's collar and Saint John's flower.
In the language of herbs, a daisy represents innocence, simplicity, cheerfulness, sympathy and a newborn baby. In the spring, if a dreamer dreams of daisies, this symbolizes months of good luck. If a person sends daisies, it means "loyal love."
